I have been a high school art teacher since 2001.  Yes, my first month of teaching was 9/11.  But, things settled down after that.  After completing an internship year at Cesar Chavez High School, I spent the bulk of my teaching career at Bellaire High School in Houston Independent School District.  I have taught almost every sort of art class from all levels of drawing and painting (including AP and IB portfolios), sculpture, jewelry, and digital art & animation.

Teaching students to love making is what gets me up in the morning.  I have done it for a long time and am pretty good at it.  I love teaching students who have never drawn anything that they can draw when given proper instruction and perseverance.  And, I love teaching experienced students to grow and learn more - increase in skill and creativity.  It is the best part of being a teacher- to see that growth over years... and multiple years.

If you are more curious about student expectations and work, you can reference class information or see some student work using the links below.  I look forward to working with you this year!
