Mu Alpha Theta

  • Purpose:
    Mu Alpha Theta is a national mathematics honors society. We strive to promote scholarship in, and enjoyment and understanding of, mathematics among students at John Foster Dulles High School. The purpose of our organization is to promote scholarship in, and enjoyment and understanding of, mathematics among high school students. We are dedicated to inspiring keen interest in mathematics.

    Major Activities and Events:
    We attend many mathematics competitions in the area throughout the school year. Together with the Math & Science Club, we host a TMSCA tournament.

    Requirements:
    To join Mu Alpha Theta, students must have completed Algebra I and Geometry and be currently enrolled in Algebra II. Students are required to complete their current AAC math courses with a minimum of a 90 at the end of each grading period (nine weeks), with the exception of AP Calculus AB and AP Calculus BC, requiring a minimum of 85. All members must hold at least an 80 average for all other core classes.
