The US Academic Decathlon is a challenging academic competition. There are ten events including math, science, language, art, music, economics, social science, essay, speech and interview. It is a AP-level course for Juniors and Seniors and an honors-level course for Freshmen and Sophomores. The team competes at the district, regional, state and national level as well as several local scrimmages.
Successful decathletes win medals, earn a letter, and there are scholarships at the state level and beyond. The competition is one of the most prestigious things a student can have on their college application.
Meetings:
The class meets daily. Students in the class meet weekly after school and study on their own time. Summer and weekend meetings/practice will be announced when scheduled.
Requirements:
The Academic Decathlon is open to any student from any academic background. Freshmen and sophomores are also eligible to join the Academic Octathlon.
