Dr. Marilupe Hren

I was born and raised in Mexico City. I am an immigrant! I moved from Mexico City to Las Cruces, NM in 2008 to start graduate school. At the beginning of 2014, I got married with “the other” Dr. Hren and moved to Sugar Land, TX. I enjoy spending time with my family, watching TV shows and movies, and surfing the web.

In 2015, I finished my Ph. D. in Curriculum & Instruction with a minor in Mathematics at New Mexico State University (NMSU). I have completed a Master of Arts in Education in 2011, a Master of Science in Mathematics in 2009, both from NMSU, and a bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics in 2006 from Instituto Tecnologico Autonomo de Mexico (ITAM). I found my passion and love for teaching while working in the Math department at NMSU where I taught mathematics to undergraduate students for three years. After that, I taught and supervised pre-service teachers who were taking mathematics methods courses and courses regarding technology integration in the classroom. Additionally, I have taught Algebra II, Geometry and Pre-College Mathematics at Thurgood Marshall High School, and AP Calculus BC, AP Research, AP Seminar, Calculus I & II Dual Credit, College Algebra Dual Credit, and, Precalculus Academic, Dual Credit and Pre-AP at George Ranch High School. Currently, I am the Dulles High School UIL Calculator Applications, Mathematics and Number Sense coach.

Math became my favorite subject in high school; specifically, while I was transitioning from Precalculus to Calculus. My goal is for my students to experience the wonders of mathematics, and realize the power and value of learning mathematics, no matter what career path they decide to take.

This will be my fifth year at Dulles High School, and I am looking forward to a fantastic year with my Vikings!
