B.S. in Criminology and Corrections

Mrs. Demetra Clark

My name is Demetra Clark, and I am thrilled to welcome you to this year's Criminal Justice course. I am a proud graduate of Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminology and Corrections. Before joining KHS, I spent 11 years at Fort Bend County Juvenile Probation, where I held various roles including Detention Officer, Intake Officer, Field Officer, Boot Camp Officer, and Victims Assistant Coordinator.

I began my teaching career at Kempner High School in the fall of 1998 as the Criminal Justice Instructor. I am also honored to sponsor the Criminal Justice Explorers Society and the National Honor Society (NHS).

In this course, we will use Schoology for both informal and formal discussions about various literature and media related to criminal justice. Our focus will be on enhancing writing skills through peer review and discussions. Students will submit assignments and essays on Schoology, where they can view rubrics to understand expectations and track their progress. Quizzes and tests will also be administered through Schoology, providing immediate feedback.

The Course Resources folder in Schoology contains the course syllabus and online textbook logins. The Student Support folder offers links to additional resources to help your student succeed. For any questions or concerns, you can message me directly in Schoology by clicking the “Message Teacher” icon on the right-hand side.

I am excited to begin my 27th year of teaching as we kick off the 2024-25 school year! Together, we will work hard, DREAM BIG AND STAY TRUE!

Go Cougs!
