Keven Balderas grew up nearby in Alief, graduating from Hastings High School in 2011. He enrolled in Texas A&M University right after, and graduated from there in 2015 with a Bachelor's in Classical Languages. He obtained a Master's in Business Administration from the University of Houston, Downtown in 2020. He worked as an insurance agent before becoming an educator. He became teacher certified in the state of Texas through the University of Houston (main campus) in 2025. Before coming to Kempner, he taught 7th grade English Language Arts in Cy-Fair ISD. He currently teaches English I, and coaches Cross Country.
