Coach Folkerts grew up in Iowa with 4 brothers and one sister. Athletics were very important part of his HS career and into college. He began coaching at Northern University High School in Cedar Falls, Iowa while he was still attending the University of Northern Iowa, gaining his Bachelor's Degree in Education. Eventually, Coach Folkerts moved to Janesville HS coaching Football, Basketball, Track and Baseball.
In 1998, he had the opportunity to move to Texas and become a teacher and coach at Beck JH in Katy before moving to Cinco Ranch HS. While at Cinco Ranch, Eric was fortunate enough to teach Geography and World History and helped Coach Jones build the Baseball program into a district power, eventually winning a district title in 2006. In 2007, he left to move to Kansas where he became the Asst Principal and Athletic Director of Atchison HS. 2011 saw a move back to Texas where he joined up again with Coach Jones at Kempner and helped take them to a Regional Final in 2012. He took over the Kempner Head Baseball Coaching job in 2019 and last year led the team to a 21-13 record, a District 23-5 runner-up and a Bi-District Championship.
Coach and his wife, Kelly have been married since 1994 and have two kids, Jacob and Taylor, that graduated from Cinco Ranch HS in 2016 and both just recently graduated college, Taylor from Texas A&M and Jacob from Sam Houston State!! We love to travel all around the United States.
