Degrees and Certifications:

B.A. in Chemistry Composite Science 7-12

Mrs. Danielle Buchanan

[Kristen] Danielle teaches Forensic Science at Kempner High School. She graduated from Lamar University with a B.A. in Chemistry in the fall of 2013. While contemplating the next steps to utilize her degree, she began working as the assistant teacher in a 3-4 year-old preschool room and fell in love with teaching. Danielle decided to put her degree to work and started substitute teaching at various high schools in LCISD. After obtaining an alternative certification through ACT Houston, she was hired at Kempner in the fall of 2015 to teach Advanced Chemistry and IPC. During the 2016-17 school year, she taught her first Forensic Science class. To her excitement, the class size grew from one to six sections by 2019.

In 2020, Danielle was approached about being a sponsor for Student Council when the previous sponsor retired. She accepted and has had the opportunity to see Kempner Cougars grow as leaders within the school and community. Student Council welcomes all grade levels and no previous experience is needed to join.

Recently, she has partnered with a student-focused tour group called Education First and has taken students to Scotland, England, Japan, Italy and Greece! She enjoys sharing her love of delicious food, travel, and learning with her students. This will be her tenth year at Kempner and she hopes to have many more!
