Professor Alicia Anderson Stevenson
Kempner High School Teacher

ELA Department Head

Professor Stevenson has taught at Kempner High School for over 25 years.  She was proud to earn the distinction of Teacher of the Year for Kempner High School in 2013-2014 and Heart of Kempner Award for 2024.  She was also a member of the Best PLC in 2024. Subjects taught while at KHS include: English I Pre- AP, English I Advanced, English IV Advanced, English IV- AP, College Now (Dual Credit), Practical Writing and AVID I- AVID IV.  She also currently serves as the English Department Head and as a member of the AVID Site Team.  In addition, she is an Adjunct Professor at HCC, and is certified to teach online using CANVAS.  

Education:

Bachelor of Arts in English at Texas A&M University in 1995. 

Masters of Arts in English at Texas A&M University in 1997. 

Certified in the fields of English and Gifted and Talented Education. 

Previous teaching experience includes student teaching at A&M Consolidated in College Station and Technical Writing and Freshmen Composition at Texas A&M University during her fellowship.
