• AP Capstone ScholarDaaniya Salam is a graduating senior from Kempner High School and President of Kempner’s Rho Kappa, Spanish Honor Society, Book Club, and Vice President of Kempner MSA. She’s an accomplished artist, academic, and AP Scholar; winning awards such as the V.A.S.E Certificate of Achievement, V.A.S.E Exemplary Rating- Area Medallion, Regional Medallion, & State Medallion, UIL Literary Criticism 1st Place Individual, and UIL Literary Criticism 1st Place Team. Daaniya’s character and service have been consistently acknowledged awarding her KHS Student of the Month, KHS Certificate of Achievement- Character Award, and KHS Certificate of Achievement- Subject Award in Art. Outside of school, she exemplifies these traits through her work on the idea board and fundraising team at Sabrina Memorial Foundation, a nonprofit that focuses on empowering women and providing education to rural, impoverished areas of Bangladesh. As part of her AP Research portfolio, Daaniya studied the correlation between levels of Foreign Language Anxiety, Enjoyment, and grit in higher-level Spanish students; she particularly enjoyed the investigative process of figuring out whether these factors were causing lower levels of students taking AP Spanish 5. In the fall, she will major in Business at the University of Houston with thoughts of pursuing studies in International Affairs.
