Greetings Kempner Cougars,

I hope your summer was both refreshing and stimulating, allowing you to find some balance in these ever-changing times. My name is Clemente Alquicira, though you can call me Coach Alquicira—don’t worry, we’ll get the hang of it! I earned my bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Houston-Downtown, and I’m honored to be your US History teacher this year at Kempner High School. Additionally, I’m excited to continue serving as the Head Coach for Girls' Soccer.

To me, teaching and coaching are about much more than just lessons and drills. It's about nurturing minds and building a character that will last far beyond your time at Kempner. A quote that guides my philosophy in education is from Martin Luther King Jr.: “The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education.”

As we start this new academic year, let’s aim to foster knowledge, critical thinking, and strong character in all of you. Together, we can achieve great things both in the classroom and on the field.
