• AP Capstone Scholar

Alice Assavasuwan is a senior in the Class of 2024 at Kempner High School, and she serves as both the president of the Tri-M Music Honor Society chapter and the secretary of the orchestra program. At school, Alice has pursued excellence in the arts and academics, such as ranking as the fourth best violist in Fort Bend ISD, earning an Exemplary rating at the district V.A.S.E competition, becoming an All-State Artist for the V.A.S.E competition, consistently scoring top ratings for the UIL District and State Orchestra Solo and Ensemble Contest, graduating within the top ten ranks, and earning the AP Scholar with Distinction Award, and participating in various honor societies. Outside of high school, she regularly takes commission from peers, teachers, and other adults, such as painting Christmas decorations, ceiling tiles, banners, pets, family portraits, and other pieces of art. Through the Capstone program, Alice analyzed the correlation between the length of musical training, memory, and attention in secondary orchestra students, in which she particularly enjoyed experimenting with different tests measuring those cognitive abilities. In the fall, she plans to major in biology and pursue a career in veterinary medicine.
