Minahil Junaid is a graduating senior from Kempner High School. She is the president of YES club, Vice President of English Honor Society, Secretary of Science National Honor Society, a Senior Editor for Visions magazine, along with being a member of the National Honor Society and DECA . Through her involvement she has received many honors, including being a 2023 AP Scholar with Honors, 2022, 2023 and 2024 Scholastic Art and Writing Award Recipient, and a 2025 DECA State qualifier. Outside of school, she enjoys volunteering for An-Nisa and Helping Hands, both organizations dedicated to supporting refugees and Dar Us Sakina, a nonprofit Islamic school for children with mental and physical disabilities.
As part of her AP Research portfolio, Minahil studied the correlation between students' lunch preferences and school lunch waste; she particularly enjoyed the investigative process of figuring out whether these factors were due to students' pickiness and personal preferences or due to issues within the school lunches themselves. In the fall, she will major in Biology at the Honors College at the University of Houston as she begins her journey to becoming a Neurologist.
