• AP Capstone ScholarAshley Hatch is a graduating senior from Kempner High School. They are the president of Kempner’s Science National Honor Society, co-founder and Vice President of their Red Cross Chapter, Social Chair for Mu Alpha Theta, along with being a member of the Kempner Brigade Varsity Dance Team, National Honor Society, English Honor Society, and Rho Kappa. Through her involvement she has received many honors, including earning double varsity letters, being a 2023 AP Scholar with Distinction, 2023 National African American Recognition Recipient, 2023 and 2024 Scholastic Art and Writing Award Recipient, and a 2023 POSSE national semifinalist. Outside of school, she enjoys volunteering for See You At the Polls, an organization dedicated to increasing voter turnout, and the national ALS Association, which aims to spread awareness about ALS. Through her Capstone studies, she learned valuable research skills while studying the educational persistence of black STEM students like herself to better understand their experiences when pursuing higher education in STEM. After graduating high school, she plans on attending Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., to study Business and Global Affairs at the prestigious Robert Emmett McDonough School of Business.
