Namirah Chishtey is a graduating senior from Kempner High School. She is the President of the Kempner National English Honor Society, Co-President of the South Asian Student Association, Secretary of the YES Club, a member of the National Honor Society, and a player on the girls’ golf team. She has also contributed to the school’s Cougar Magazine, showcasing her passion for writing and student voice. Namirah has earned several honors, including being a 2024 Posse semi-finalist matched to Vanderbilt University and receiving a national honorable mention, Silver Keys, and honorable mentions in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. She is an AP Honors student and was recognized as Kempner’s first Youth of the Month for the 2024–2025 school year. Beyond academics, she has participated in voter outreach, worked on congressional campaigns, co-founded a nonprofit through the Fort Bend Youth Leadership Program to raise awareness about human trafficking in Fort Bend County, and tutors students who are academically behind. For her AP Capstone project, she designed and led a school-wide recycling initiative, combining surveys, observations, and an educational campaign to analyze student behavior and environmental attitudes. Her research emphasized the impact of authority, peer influence, and accessibility on recycling habits, aiming to create long-term change within the school community. Namirah will attend the University of Southern California to study electrical engineering at the Viterbi School of Engineering and plans to pursue a career focused on expanding access to electricity in underserved communities.
