• What is a Dual Credit course?

    Dual credit courses are offered to students in FBISD through Houston Community College. Dual credit courses are college courses that you take while in high school. Since you are taking a college course, FBISD gives you high school credit.

    What are the State TSI requirements for dual credit?

    To take dual credit courses students must meet Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards.

    Dual credit TSI standards are:

     

    EOC Scores

    TSI Ready for Reading & Writing

    Score at least a 4000 on ELA 2 EOC

    TSI Ready for Math

    Score at least a 4000 on Algebra 1 EOC

    PSAT Scores

    TSI Ready for Reading & Writing

    Score at least a 460 on EBRW section

    TSI Ready for Math

    Score at least a 510 on the Math Section

    SAT Scores

    TSI Ready for Reading & Writing

    Score at least a 480 on EBRW section

    TSI Ready for Math

    Score at least a 530 on the Math Section

    ACT Scores

    Composite Score of at least 23

    19+ on the English section, exempt from reading & writing TSI

    19+ on the Math Section, exempt from math TSI

    Example: Comp 23, ELA 18, M 24

    Exempt from math TSI only


    What steps do I take to enroll in a dual credit course?

    Follow the action item list below. The first step is to attend one of the mandatory meetings. Students who do not attend a mandatory meeting will not be eligible to enroll in the dual credit course.

    You need to apply to HCC before completing these forms.  You MUST use your HCC ID Number.
