Mu Alpha Theta

  • Purpose:
    Mu Alpha Theta is a national mathematics honors society. We strive to promote scholarship in, and enjoyment and understanding of, mathematics among students at John Foster Dulles High School. The purpose of our organization is to promote scholarship in, and enjoyment and understanding of, mathematics among high school students. We are dedicated to inspiring keen interest in mathematics.

    Major Activities and Events:
    We attend many mathematics competitions in the area throughout the school year.

    Requirements:
    To join Mu Alpha Theta, students must have completed Algebra I AAC and Geometry AAC and be currently enrolled in Algebra II AAC. Students are required to complete their current AAC math courses with a minimum of a 85 at the end of each grading period (nine weeks), with the exception of AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC and Precalculus AAC, requiring a minimum of 80. All members must hold at least an 80 average for all other core classes.
