A little bit about me. I am a graduate of the University of Central Florida, Western State Colorado University, and Alaska Pacific University. I hold a Masters in Teaching and an MFA in Creative Writing. I am from Alaska and have been in Texas for four years. This is my 13th  year of teaching. I have been a boys' basketball coach, head track coach, ran a student-run coffee shop, recycling program, was a spelling bee coordinator, yearbook advisor, and acted as department chair. I've taught 7th/8th grade English for 8 years. I taught 5th/6th split in elementary on JBER military base. I also teach Junior College Freshmen and Sophmores Comp 1 and Comp 2 at Houston Community College.  Prior to teaching, I worked as a copy editor for literary magazines. I am married with two kids and a dog named Jack. I spend my time outside of school reading, writing, home improvement projects, and just hanging out with my kids. 

This year at Travis HS I will be the UIL Coach for Literary Criticism and Ready Writers

& English I AAC  (Pre-AP) (TEAM LEAD) and English IV AP Literature 

         1, 2, 3, and 6th Pre-AP English I

         5th and 7th AP Lit English IV

         Conference & PLC 4th 

Typically, Tutorials are on Tuesday 6:50 am-7:20 am and Wednesday:3:00 pm-3:30 pm (Students can attend other English Teacher Tutorial Times for help). 

Please make sure your student gets a pass or notifies me the day before.
