Degrees and Certifications:
Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Studies
Mrs. Yumi Franklin
I am a native Japanese speaker. I was born and raised in the Kanto area of Japan. I attended a boarding high school in England for 4 years and received an IB education. I then went back to Japan and attended Sophia University (じょうちだいがく 上智大学）in Tokyo, where I received a Bachelor's Degree in Foreign Studies.
I have teaching experience in Japan, at Clements HS (Clinical Teaching Practicum), and in Houston ISD. This is my eighth year at THS and seventh year at GBHS (Distance Learning classes only). I really enjoy teaching and learning with my students every day.
In my free time, I love watching soccer with my family. I am a big soccer fan and a soccer mom! I have 2 sons, a 21 year-old senior at Colby College in Maine state playing soccer and a 24 year-old son, who is a soccer coach at a competitive soccer club.
I also enjoy cooking (80% of my cooking is Japanese food, of course! I LOVE Japanese food!).
We also love animals and we have 2 big dogs (いぬ) and 1 cat (ねこ).
I look forward to making this year a great year with all of you!
