Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology

Mr. Steven Zbranek

Hi, I am Mr. Zbranek and I am glad to be back at Travis High School for my second year teaching Principles of Architecture, Architecture Design I & Architecture Design II. For the last ten years, I taught Science and Robotics and Engineering, Investigating Careers and Principles of Architecture at First Colony Middle School. I have been teaching for the last seventeen years. I have a bachelor's in Kinesiology and I have my certifications in Physical Education, Generalist grades 4-8 and Technology Education 6-12.

In Principles of Architecture (PoA), students will gain knowledge and skills needed to enter a career in architecture or prepare a foundation for a postsecondary degree in architecture, construction science, drafting, interior design or landscape architecture. Safety and career opportunities are included, in addition to work ethics and job-related study in the classroom such as communications; problem-solving and critical thinking; Information Technology Applications; systems; occupational safety & health, environmental; leadership and teamwork; ethics and legal responsibilities; employability and career development; technical skills; and reading and developing technical drawings. PoA includes knowledge of the design, design history, techniques and tools related to the production of drawings, renderings, and scaled models for nonresidential or residential architectural purposes.

In Architecture Design I (AD1), students will gain knowledge and skills needed to enter a career in architecture or prepare a foundation for a post-secondary degree in architecture, construction science, drafting, interior design or landscape architecture. AD1 will include knowledge of the design, design history, techniques and tools related to the production of drawings, renderings, and scaled models for nonresidential or residential architectural purposes.

In Architecture Design II (AD2), students will deepen their knowledge and skills in architectural design, preparing them for advanced studies or entry-level positions in the field of architecture, construction science, drafting, interior design, or landscape architecture. This course builds upon the foundation established in Architecture Design I, focusing on more complex design challenges and advanced techniques.  Students will also achieve an industry certification in AutoCAD.
