I'm a proud product of Fort Bend ISD where I attended Townewest Elementary, Sugar Land Middle School (we called it "junior high" way back then), Clements High School (as a freshman before KHS was built), and Kempner High School. Wow, has Sugar Land grown! I have the great fortune to have two children, one who attends Dulles High School and the other who attends an online high school program. I am starting my 20th year in Fort Bend ISD. I started culinary school this past May and hope to share the things I've learned with students when we return to campus in person.
I really enjoy teaching, reading, and discussing history. I am returning to AP World history after a three year hiatus where I took the position as on-level World History team lead. Up until this year I taught AP European History, but decided to hand it off to another capable teacher to come back to WHAP. Throughout my teaching career, I have taught all levels of World History, was a 9th grade AVID elective teacher, served as an assistant swim coach, and was an Instructional Technology Specialist for Fort Bend ISD for five years. I returned to the classroom in 2008 and have been loving it ever since!! I look forward to the challenge 2020 has granted us with online learning. I expect to learn a lot as I lead my students through the use of OneNote Student Notebook, Teams, and other exciting online resources. Another instructional experience I look forward to sharing with students is my previous experience reading for the College Board on the AP World History exams in 2014, 2016, and 2017. These reading experiences have provided invaluable experience that gave me a new perspective which I have been able to share with my students as they learn how to craft historical arguments and use their historical knowledge repertoire to defend these arguments. World History is an exciting adventure that I look forward to sharing with my students this year!
