    Conferences

    Virtual or in-person parent/teacher/student conferences may be scheduled by appointment. My conference period is daily from 1:02-1:50. Before/after school conferences can also be arranged as needed.

    May 8-10, 2023 is scheduled for Pop Show Rehearsals. I encourage students to wear something comfortable that they can dance in and bring water to stay hydrated.

  • Summer Fine Arts Opportunities

    Below are a number of wonderful opportunities for honing your art over the summer. 
     
    For High School Visual Artists
    June 5 – 17
    An intensive art-making experience, where mornings are spent exploring the UH campus to meet luminary scholars, scientists, performers and public servants, and afternoons are spent creating art in the UH School of Art’s world-class Elgin Street Studios, under the guidance of esteemed professional artist mentors.
     
     
    For High School Pianists
    June 10-24, 2023
    A fantastic, two-week immersion program for high school keyboardists of all levels taught by Moores School of Music professors. Each student receives private lessons on their principal instrument as well as the opportunity for elective studies in piano, organ, harpsichord, and fortepiano.
     
     
    For High School Jazz Musicians
    June 18-23, 2023
    Intensive training in improvisation, theory and history, plus instrument-based masterclasses and ensemble rehearsals. Led by University of Houston faculty and top Houston-area jazz musicians and educators, the institute culminates in a final concert on Friday night in the Moores Opera House. 
     
     
    For Middle School Artists
    June 19 – June 29, Monday-Thursday (9:30 am – 12:00 pm)
    The Blaffer Art Museum presents In the Mixing Booth: Your Story is in a Thousand Beautiful Pieces. Led by artist and Public Art UHS education coordinator Debra Barrera, participants make art that explores how to create personalized visual mythologies inspired by the exhibitions on view at the Blaffer Art Museum by artists Christopher MyersRobert Hodge, and Tim Kerr
     
     
    For Middle School Musicians
    June 25 – 30
    The University of Houston Cougar Band Camp is a week-long summer concert band day camp for middle school students wanting to grow as artists, meet new people, and learn more about their instrument and music.
     
     
    For High School Musicians
    June 25 - 30
    The UH Honor Band Project is an elite college immersion experience where Texas's most accomplished student musicians will spend their days in ensemble rehearsals, coachings with our world-renowned music faculty, and various university enrichment experiences.
     
     
    For High School Actors
    July 10 – 23
    An acting intensive camp for high school students, with workshops each morning taught by UH Theatre Faculty and Houston-Area Theatre Professionals. Each afternoon the campers will rehearse a one-act play directed by special guests, in preparation for a final performance at the end of the camp.
     
     
    For Middle and High School Musicians
    July 24 – August 4
    Join UH’s legendary Mariachi Pumas for Houston’s premiere mariachi summer intensive.  Students work with Houston’s most accomplished professional mariachi instructors and performers, including UH professor Jose Longoria.   
     
     
    For High School and College String Players
    July 31 – August 6
    A one-week inspiring and intensive string quartet mentorship program with the renowned string faculty of the University of Houston, Moores School of Music.  
     
     
    For all ages, 5 and up
    All summer!
    For students seeking highly personalized, weekly, ongoing, comprehensive instruction in piano, violin, viola, cello, organ, and voice. Additional instrument instruction available upon request. Open to kids and adults of all ages; no previous experience required.

  • UIL Itinerary

    UIL Itinerary

     

    Dear Tiger Choir Family,

    April 11-13, 2023 is the UIL Concert and Sight Reading Evaluation at Christ Church in Sugar Land. I am really excited for the opportunity to take these hard-working students and have a great day of singing. Students may wear their choir uniform. All students will need to ride the bus to UIL. Any student not riding the bus back will need to leave with their parent/guardian only. A signed note or an email from your parent/guardian must be sent to Mr. Bonner before you leave Pre-UIL.

    Students in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Periods will need to bring lunch or money for lunch. We will make a short stop for lunch each day. 1st Period students will eat at their normal lunch times in campus.         

     

    Tuesday, April 11

    2nd Period

    7:30 AM – report to the Choir Room, change into uniform (or come to school in uniform) and short rehearsal

    10:30 AM – load the bus, travel to Christ Church

    11:15 AM – Warm-Up Room

    11:40 AM – Concert

    12:00 PM – Sight Read

    12:30 PM – departure for lunch

    1:45 PM – return to THS, change out of uniform, go immediately to 4th period

     

    1st Period

    1:45 PM – All students report to the Choir Room to change into uniform

    2:20 PM – load the bus, travel to Christ Church

  • UIL Preview Concert

    Dear Tiger Choir Family,

    The Travis High School Tiger Choir is thrilled to present our UIL Preview Concert on Monday, April 3 at 7:00pm in the THS Auditorium. Admission is free and no ticket is required.

     

    Students will need to arrive at the school (auditorium) dressed in their uniform at 6:15pm.

     

     

    Uniforms for Sopranos/Altos:

    - dress (provided) (hemmed to floor length, please DO NOT cut any fabric)

    - closed-toe black dress shoes (flats or small heels)

    Uniforms for Tenors/Basses:

    - white button-down dress shirt

    - red tie (provided this evening)

    - tuxedo pants (provided) (hemmed, please DO NOT cut any fabric)

    - tuxedo jacket (provided for 3rd period only) (sleeves hemmed, please DO NOT cut any fabric)

    - black dress shoes

    - long solid black socks

     

    The concert should last one hour or less. Programs will be available digitally.

  • Solo and Ensemble Help Available

    This message is for those participating at Solo and Ensemble. If this does not apply to you/your student, please ignore this message. 
     
     
    Feel free to sign up for a slot to come and work on your solo for Solo and Ensemble. Each time slot will be like a mini voice lesson. If you need help with anything in particular or would like some feedback on ways your performance can improve, I am happy to help! Just click the link and sign up for a time slot. I will also be available to help two students (from 3rd Period) each day during Tiger Time. If you are singing the same solo as someone else and would like to come together, feel free to put down one name for the sign up and come together. If any of these times do not work for you, please let me know and I will do my best to accommodate you.

  • Winter Concert Information

    Dear Tiger Choir Family,

    The Travis High School Tiger Choir is thrilled to present our Winter Concert on Tuesday, December 13 at 7:00pm in the THS Auditorium. Admission is free and no ticket is required.

     

    Rehearsal: Monday, December 12 in Choir Room for 3rd and 4th Periods

    3rd Pd: 3:00-3:45 Ose Shalom with all instruments

    4th Pd: 3:45-4:30 Winter Lullaby with strings and piano

     

    Concert: Tuesday, December 13 in THS Auditorium

    Students in 1st, 2nd, and 4th periods will need to arrive at the school (auditorium) dressed in their uniform at 6:15pm.

     

    Students in 3rd period will need to arrive at the school (auditorium) dressed in their uniform at 5:45pm for a run-through with the orchestra.

  • Homecoming National Anthem
