Welcome to the ESOL program at Travis High School. I look forward to helping our students gain English and academic skills in all areas, and to working with families.
I work with Speakers of Other Languages. Many of our students take English Language Arts and Sheltered Reading as a two-period block. I also support English Learners of all levels, by connecting with teachers and students to identify needs and provide success strategies.
I have extensive experience teaching ESOL to all ages and abilities, and I speak Spanish as a Second Language. My public school experience also includes teaching social studies and bilingual elementary. I've worked in public schools, education initiatives and community development in San Antonio, Texas, New York City and Puebla, Mexico. I graduated UT Austin with a degree in Latin America Studies, and did graduate work in Media Studies at the New School in Manhattan.
I look forward to helping our students succeed, learning from them, and building a community that supports cooperative learning and student leadership.
