I became an educator in 2010 after spending over two decades as a corporate professional. I am first generation high school and college graduate, having received my B.A. in Political Science from the University of St. Thomas and an M.Ed. from Texas A&M University. As an educator I believe in a holistic approach to instruction and learning. The late great intellectual and civil rights leader W.E.B. DuBois reminded us that true "education must not simply teach work - it must teach life." 

I believe each student has the intellectual, social and emotional capacity to realize their full potential when the desire to learn is present and proper support systems are in place. As an educator, it is my responsibility to provide every student an opportunity to realize their potential in a safe and equitable learning environment. One of the mantras in the home of my youth was "education is the great equalizer!" Having internalized this teaching, and bearing witness to the power of its truth, my hope is that every one of my students will value the opportunity to gain an education, challenge themselves to grow, and truly understand the old adage that "knowledge is power!"
