Ms. Vanessa Salinas
Ms. Salinas enjoys teaching reading and writing skills to help her students succeed. It is important to practice our reading and writing skills daily. She wishes for her students to continue reading and writing throughout their lives.
Welcome Students and Parents! We are looking forward to an amazing year.
Each student needs a Reader’s Notebook and a Writer’s Notebook. Parents should be able to see the notebooks, and what students are working on. Parents, this would be a good time to discuss and interact with your child about what’s in their Reader’s and Writer’s notebook. Everyone loves to talk about a great book or something they have written!
The approach allows students to choose what they read, write, think, and talk deeply about.
A significant amount of time is spent on reading and writing independently, so students may apply the skills to their own work.
Sample Structure of a Class:
- Mini-Lesson (5-15 minutes) will vary.
- Guided Practice
- Independent reading/writing time
- Conferencing – The teacher will be meeting with individual students as well as small groups during independent work time.
- Share –with a partner, a group of four, or share with the whole class.
