AVID, Advancement Via Individual Determination, is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to closing the opportunity gap by preparing all students for college and career opportunities. Established more than 40 years ago, AVID today impacts more than 800,000 students in 44 states and 16 other countries and territories. AVID prepares students by enrolling them in rigorous course levels such as honors, Pre-AP (Advanced Placement), and Advanced Placement.

AVID has been a staple in Fort Bend ISD for many years and is branching out dramatically to include more middle schools and elementary schools as well. BHS is fortunate to have middle schools that feed into it that offer AVID, and this allows our students to be as successful as possible when they transition to high school.  The AVID Program is available at Bush and all high schools in the district, as well as our feeders Crockett and Hodges Bend middle schools.
