Dr. Kristen Dimond
Through my experiences from a teaching assistant at University of Houston, to an adjunct professor at Brozosport College, and especially during my 3 years teaching at Bush High School, I am reminded every day that I truly love teaching, science, and especially, teaching students how to actually "do science" in the real world.
My goal as an educator is to: 1) teach students to understand fundamental biological concepts and theories; 2) provide an active learning
environment engaging students to ask questions and use the scientific method to address them; 3) train students to develop the ability to think critically, and creatively; and 4) encourage them tochallenge themselves to develop the skills they need to help them be successful.
I am so fortunate to teach in a field that I truly love. Many of my students tell me that my passion and enthusiasm for science and biology easily comes across
when I teach. In addition, I take any opportunities I can to highlight both the impacts of biology on their own lives and the importance of acquiring the skills described above, for their academic, personal, and professional development. My hope is that I can provide practical motivation for students to develop their own questions, and seek answers to these questions independently.
