Dr. Mateba Harris

  

Dr. Mateba Harris has over 24 years of experience as an educator, with 18 of those being in supervision and administration.  She is originally from Wisconsin where she served as a special education teacher, diagnostician, assistant director of special education, assistant principal, and principal for the largest urban school district in the state and has a proven track record of significantly improving the educational outcomes of traditionally marginalized and underserved communities.

 

Dr. Harris is an author of several publications emphasizing and shedding light on the importance of being culturally competent and implementing culturally relevant and responsive practices, educating our culturally and linguistically diverse learners, and servicing our students with disabilities. 

 

As the associate principal of Willowridge High School for the past six years, she takes pride in the work she has done, with various administrative teams, teachers, and instructional staff, to implement sustainable systems and structures which have positively impacted the campus!  Dr. Harris holds an unwavering belief that all students can achieve at high academic levels, and it is up to the leaders and staff to create the environment and conditions for our students to grow, thrive and succeed. 

 

Dr. Harris is married, with four beautiful adult children, who have pursued post-secondary interests in the arts, the military and college. She is an active member of her church, the Fifth Ward Church of Christ, and enjoys relaxing with her family on the weekends.
