Student Leadership 101

  • Each year, the Board of Trustees invites FBISD 10th grade students who are interested in leadership development during their junior and senior year to apply for participation in Junior Student Leadership program. Through a series of seven monthly seminars, selected participants explore their personal roles in community and school leadership, as well as volunteer service. School Board members sponsor and attend the student seminars on topics such as personal leadership skills, youth advocacy, service and volunteerism, local government in action, business, and health care.

The cohort consists of 33 students with representation from all high schools in the district. Applicants should be in good academic and behavioral standing; have an interest in developing their personal leadership skills; have obtained the written permission of their parents and school principal; and be willing to accept the attendance expectations before submitting an application. Please visit the FBISD website and look under Board of Trustees for further information on this program. Applications open each spring for the following school year.
