• GMS Japanese Club 2021-2022

    Dear Parents,

This year we are introducing the Japanese Club at Garcia Middle School.

The club will be held every Wednesday from 4:30 PM-5:15 PM in room 708. A Schoology access code W3ZC-GNTR-JMGK4 will be available to access all previous lessons if they missed a day or need to review. The club will focus specifically on learning about the Japanese language and culture.

Learning topics in the Japanese Club include (but are not limited to): reading and writing (hiragana, katakana, and kanji), origami, places, food, hobbies, money, schools, legends and folklore, holidays and celebrations, and much more.

While there are no fees to the club, a certain level of commitment will be necessary to participate. Prospective students will be required to learn the foundations of hiragana and katakana after the first 2 lessons to properly participate in a club. This will likely require studying daily and a great deal of focus and dedication. For students who are not able to make this commitment, I recommend joining the Anime Club as a replacement.

The Japanese Club will meet every Wednesday. It always ends promptly at 5:15 PM every time we meet. Please make sure your child has a ride to pick them up at 5:15PM or no later than 5:30. This is a safety measure. The staff will only be on campus until 5:30. If your child goes home a different way, please send a note with them. We strive to keep our children safe 100% of the time. Please assist us as much as possible. Failure to comply with this rule will result in the suspension of your child from club activities or the forfeit of their spot in the club.
