My name is Monica Martinez.  This is my 18th year teaching secondary science. I have been teaching at GMS since 2013 and was named Teacher of the Year in 2017. 

Prior to my career as an educator, I worked as an Environmental Scientist for the US Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, DC.

As an educator, it is my role to provide and expose students to engaging, rich, meaningful, and authentic learning experiences. I believe that learning should be fun, safe, comfortable, rigorous, and accessible to all.  I set high expectations for my students, as well as myself.  I challenge myself every day to learn new strategies and improve student performance.
