Hello! My name is Erin Weber, and I am teaching 7th grade ELAR for the 2021-2022 school year. This year, more than other, I hope to help students feel safe and motivated in and out of the classroom. Learning never stops.
This will be my third year working at Garcia Middle School. I have four children, all currently enrolled in FBISD. In my dual role as a mother and teacher, I am in a unique position to better empathize with my students and their family's needs. My path to teaching is untraditional as I spent fifteen years at home with my children before returning to work. My degree is in Sociology which lends itself well to education as it's enabled me to view education with an eye towards motivation, equity, and collaboration. I have professional experience working as a newspaper writer and editor, in an accounting department of a mortgage company, and as a project manager over digitizing media.
My teaching philosophy is in providing an equitable and collaborative educational environment that fosters student-directed learning. Assignments and work that my students do must be meaningful and inspire creativity, participation, accountability, and teamwork. All these qualities will enable students to aspire into a pattern of life-long learning and will prove applicable through adulthood. Having fun is an important element in enjoying the learning process, therefore, I seek to create fun in my classroom.
