I am a proud graduate of Texas Southern University! Born and raised in the Houston area, I've always had a passion for working with the youth and being a positive role model in their lives. I am a loving husband and father of three children. I love spending time with my family as they have been my biggest supporters throughout my life. I am a huge Spurs(basketball) fan and watching boxing, reading, traveling with family, and cooking are my favorite pastimes. I love the color green and a glass of cold iced sweet tea is my guilty pleasure. I am looking foward to having an awesome school year with your child and helping them explore new information.

    Welcome to U.S. History! I will have the privilege of teaching your son/daughter this year. My name is Michael Spann and I am a graduate of Texas Southern University with my major in Liberal Studies and a concentration in History and Geography. This is my 2nd year teaching at Lake Olympia Middle School and my 4th year in education. I’ve also worked on the elementary level as a SPED instructional paraprofessional before pursuing my career in teaching. I love teaching and being apart of my student’s growth as the years progress. I don’t expect perfect, however I always expect every student to try their best and make achievable goals.

     

    We have many important skills to master and exciting facts to learn this school year. I will challenge your children in this class, and I believe they can succeed in whatever they do if they give full effort. Every student has a unique gift and this year I will be helping them explore those gifts and apply them towards becoming excellent students. We are in for a wonderful year and I will communicate with you often via weekly newsletters to share important information about our class.
