My name is Sandyia Payton and I'm happy to be here at Garcia Middle School. I'm a proud graduate of Sam Houston State University.

 I have been teaching Journalism for 19 years. I taught for 12 years at the high school I attended in Humble, TX.

In 2021, I was selected as the MGMS Teacher of the Year. I was also selected as a district teacher of the year finalist.

 I believe that every student has a story to tell.  As student journalists, I want my student press members to look for those stories and tell them to the best of their ability. 

I'm looking forward to a great year as a gator!
