Dr. Phyllis Tyler

Welcome to 8th Grade Algebra I and Geometry AAC.  I am Dr. Phyllis Tyler, your teacher for the 2024-25 school year.  A native of Louisiana, I earned a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and Mathematics from Northeast Louisiana University.  Additionally, I earned both Masters and Doctorate degrees in Educational Administration from Texas Southern University.

This is my 50th year as an educator.  I began my career as a math teacher (middle and high school) with Houston ISD where I also served as a high school registrar, assistant principal, dean of instruction and campus principal at the elementary and middle school level.  In June of 2012 I retired from Stafford MSD where I served as middle school principal.  Since retiring, I have worked as an interim high school principal, college professor, and an educational consultant.  I am a mother, grandmother, sister and an aunt.   In my spare time, I enjoy reading and cooking.

I am excited to return to Fort Bend ISD and the Ronald Thornton MS Thundercat Family for a third year.  It is my goal to provide learning experiences which reinforce mathematics as a source of reasoning, critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity for all students.
