I was raised in Sugar Land, Texas. I attended Lakeview Elementary, Dulles Junior High, and Dulles High School. Go Vikings! After high school, I headed to Sam Houston State University where I received my Bachelors in Elementary Education. My mom was a teacher in Fort Bend ISD, so that is where I headed to start my first teaching job.
I got a job teaching 6th grade reading at Sugar Land Middle School and taught 6th grade reading there for twenty years. After receiving my Master’s Degree in Education Administration and Supervision from the University of Houston, I began applying for Assistant Principal Positions in Fort Bend ISD. Much to my surprise, I received a phone call that I would remain at Sugar Land Middle School as the 6th grade Assistant Principal! This started my administrative career, and the next 12 years were spent as Assistant, Associate and Building Principal all at Sugar Land Middle School! My entire 32 year career was spent at Sugar Land Middle School!
In 2012, I decided to retire, but I have continued working in FBISD as an administrative substitute. I have had the pleasure of working on many different campuses, and have been impressed with each and every one of them.
I am married, and my husband and I share the love of music. He plays the guitar, and I sing. We love to travel, and when I am not working, we are busy traveling to all of our “bucket list” places!
I am a people person! I love people of all ages and find joy in inspiring and encouraging our youth. I have been very impressed so far with the Thundercat Way, and I look forward to a positive and rewarding experience here at Ronald Thornton Middle School!
