Welcome to 6th Grade Social Studies!

Hello and welcome! My name is Kywanda Fortenberry, and I am proud to be teaching at Ronald Thornton Middle School, where I serve as an important role model in your child's life and educational journey.

This is my 6th year teaching Social Studies, and my 17th year in education. I earned my Bachelor’s in Education from Alcorn State University, and recently completed my Master’s in Educational Administration from Texas Southern University in Spring 2023. Before stepping into education, I worked in the clerical and retail industries, where I developed strong skills in service and communication that now benefit my classroom every day.

Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate to learn from some of the most passionate educators across Mississippi and Texas. These experiences have deepened my commitment to supporting children and helping them grow into their best selves.

I am truly passionate about teaching and am dedicated to making a lasting impact on every student I meet. I look forward to an exciting and meaningful year with your child!
