Hi, my name is Catherine Comer and I’m so excited to be teaching 1^st grade at Scanlan Oaks (SOE) this year.  This is my 27^th year of teaching and my 19^th year at SOE.  I have been extremely fortunate to wear many different hats as an educator.  I graduated from the University of Houston and began my educational journey, teaching 1^st grade, in Alief ISD.  It was there I was given an amazing opportunity to become a Reading Recovery teacher.  I taught Reading Recovery and was an English as a Second Language (ESL) Specialist for 14 years.  I was also a  Literacy Intervention Teacher for six.  Three years ago, I decided I to go back to my roots and teach 1^st grade again.   

Besides being a teacher, I am a wife and mother.  I have been married to my remarkable husband, Joe Comer, for 24 years.  We have an incredible 21-year-old daughter named Emma.  I also have a precious Maltepoo named Olaf who is 11 years old. 

In my spare time I enjoy reading, walking, going to movies, concerts, and spending time with my family and friends.
