Welcome to my site and thank you for wanting to learn more about who I am as a teacher. Teaching is absolutely a rewarding career for me, and that is why I continue to do what I have a passion for doing.  This is currently my 35th year teaching, all of which have been in Fort Bend ISD and my 18th year here at Scanlan Oaks Elementary. All of my years have been in 2nd and 3rd grade.  Teaching allows me an opportunity to change the lives of children by giving them a strong foundation and helping to prepare them for a brighter future.

I am happily married to Wesley Smith, and we have one awesome son, Shea who graduated from the University of Houston, which is also my alma mater.  I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a specialization in Reading.  I am GT certified and I have my ESL certification.  I look forward to challenging my students in all areas. 

 For those of you who are sports fans, you would  enjoy knowing that I am a lifetime fan of the Dallas Cowboys.  Some would say I am a fanatic, but I call it being passionate.  There is no greater fan than a true fan.  When I am not teaching at Scanlan, I can be found working with children at my church as well as serving the members of our church community.

This year I will teach self-contained (All Subjects), which is something that I LOVE.  I look forward to working with your child this year, and just know that I will always have high expectations that will definitely help your child reach far beyond your expectations.  My goal is for every year to be a memorable one, and I know this year will definitely be one to remember.  Again I say, "Welcome, and all aboard the Scanlan Express!"
