Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Shari Swindell

Welcome to my class! My name is Shari Swindell. This year marks my 40th year of teaching in the primary grades, including 35 at the first grade level. I graduated from a small college in Springfield, Missouri with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Spanish. I also graduated from the University of Houston with a Master of Arts in Elementary Education. I have taught in Alief, Deer Park, Clear Creek, Geneva, Illinois, (Chicago suburb) and have been in Fort Bend ISD since the year 2000.

I live in Sienna with my husband.  We have 2 children.   My son, Taylor, graduated from The University of Houston and works for Memorial Hermann Hospital in the lab.  He hopes to work his way up to the clinical laboratory scientist level in the future.  He recently got married in May to Stephanie, so I have gained another daughter.  My daughter, Lauren, graduated from Bucknell University in Pennsylvania and is the Director of Rehab/physical therapist at a skilled nursing facility in the area.  In my spare time, I like to travel, read, shop, kayak and go to movies. In the summer of 2014, we added two new members to our family--Murphy, a yellow lab, and Toby, an orange American Short-haired Tabby cat.  In Nov. of 2017, we rescued a Terrier-mix named Mollie.  Our pets are definitely members of our family!

I love to work with and watch young children as they grow through their first grade year. It’s so fun to watch the look of amazement spread across their faces as a new skill “clicks”. Close communication between home and school is important to me. Please know that I will do all I can to make your child's first grade year a memorable and positive one.
