Student Library FAQs
-
Library Rules
- No food or candy*
- Lollipops, hard candy, and gummy candy are okay (just throw wrappers away, please)
- Drinks are fine
- Reason: The library had a rat problem in the past and we want to keep it rat-free. Because the custodians are very busy, they do not have time to vacuum, daily.
- Be safe
- No running or horseplay
- No food or candy*

Do I need a pass?
During school hours, you will need a pass (or to come in with your teacher).
Before school, after school, and during your lunch, you do not need a pass.
-
How many books can I check-out?
You can check out up to 5! But you might want to try 1, first, to make sure you can keep up with it.
-
Late Fine Policy
If a book is late, there are NO late fines.
However, after 30 days, the system marks the book as lost. Just turn the book in (in good condition) and the lost fine should clear.
-
Lost/Damaged Book Policy
You will need to pay for the lost book. If you borrowed from a different school, you will need to pay their RevTrak.
Much more details are available on our RevTrak: Lost & Damaged Books page!

Can I Print?
Yes! You can't print from your laptop, but you can pull up what you need to print from one of the print station kiosks.
Please use the printing browser and follow directions (located on the printer).
If it isn't before school or during your lunch, you will need a pass. -
How much is printing?
Printing is free. There is, however, a limit (not sure what it is, but it's there), so be careful not to use up your quota!

What is a library VIP?
A library VIP is a student who:
- is a regular library user;
- has volunteered;
- can be trusted to follow rules (even when not being watched)
- can be trusted to sign in (even when not being watched)
- any combination of those
Occasionally, a student gets "caught" doing something good and will gain status that way. These students are allowed in, even when the library is over capacity.
-
What if I messed up? Can I never become a library VIP?
Did you get caught hiding and eating an entire box of chips, last year? Every year is a fresh slate. I will appoint additional VIPs during the spring semester.
-
Why did you create the concept of library VIPs?
Because I no longer have a library aide, I do need to put a cap on the number of students I allow in for safety reasons.
But it is hard to turn away students who I know will be nothing but an asset to the library.
It's also a way I can thank those students who make the busiest times easier.
