Hello all. My name is Selma Sakar. 

With over 20 years of experience teaching chemistry at all high school levels internationally and in the USA, I am eager to bring my expertise to the FBISD, Austin High School. My career includes teaching regular, honors, AP Chemistry, and OnRamps Chemistry, as well as developing curriculum and mentoring teachers in my previous districts. 

I am passionate about teaching chemistry to spark the curiosity of my students about everything surrounding them. As a high school chemistry teacher, I try to help my students gain and improve their critical thinking skills to be successful. My teaching philosophy centers on engaging students through hands-on labs, real-world problem-solving, and extracurricular science activities to foster curiosity and achievement. I am looking forward to witnessing many good things happening with my students at Austin High School.
