Physical Education (P.E.)
-
Hello! We're glad you're here.
Physical Education is about so much more than sports! In PE, students build important skills that support their physical, social, and emotional growth. Here’s a look at what your child will be learning this year:
Pre-K through 2nd Grade:
Our youngest learners focus on developing foundational movement and social skills, including:
- Active listening and following directions
- Locomotor movements (running, hopping, skipping, jumping, etc.)
- Tossing, catching, and other basic motor skills
- Cooperation and teamwork
- Building confidence through movement and play
3rd through 5th Grade:
As students grow, they build upon these foundational skills while developing greater fitness awareness and responsibility. Areas of focus include:
- Refining and expanding fundamental movement skills
- Participating in the FitnessGram, the physical fitness assessment mandated by the State of Texas, which helps students better understand their individual fitness levels and set personal goals
- Demonstrating good sportsmanship and teamwork
- Learning how to win and lose with grace and respect
- Understanding the value of physical activity and healthy habits for lifelong wellness
Through engaging activities and meaningful experiences, physical education helps students develop fitness, confidence, character, and skills that extend far beyond the gym.
We look forward to a fantastic year with our Dalmatians! 🐾💙
