I am so proud to have been here since the opening of ASE 10 years ago!  This will be my 24th year teaching 5th grade, and I am teaching ELA and SS with a GT homeroom class.  I am GT trained and the Campus Champion of Gifted Services, as well as a trainer of GT teachers for the district.  I am also the campus adviser for NEHS, and I am part of a team that instructs other teachers for professional development.  I am a member of the DPAC (District Planning and Advisory Committee), as well.  I am honored to have been named ASE's Teacher of the Year for 2023-2024!

I am a proud Cougar with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies (emphasis in early childhood and psychology) from the University of Houston.  In the fall of 2023, I embarked upon a new educational journey and earned my Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction from Western Governors University.  I have been teaching in Fort Bend for 25 years, in elementary for 28 years, and in education for 34 years.  

I love to read, and my goal is to encourage all of my students to love reading for a variety of purposes.  Thinking critically is a necessary life skill, and I encourage my students, while providing the tools, to research and explore ideas.  I also enjoy sharing riddles and brainteasers, as well as using different modes of imparting knowledge to "train their brains" to make connections and think in different ways.  Additionally, fostering a sense of teamwork and promoting good citizenship while celebrating individuality and creative talents are skills vital to future success.  This year, my class will embark on a journey to create meaningful solutions to real-world situations through Project-Based Learning (PBL) in addition to exploring their personal passions during Innovation Hour.

The ultimate goal is to provide for my students an example of leadership, responsibility, and inspiration so that they, too, may be trusted to lead and inspire others.
