Hello!!

My name is Ashley Luker, and I am so excited to be your student's AVID teacher this year! Responsibility is my jam. It's important to learn life skills such as note-taking, study skills, organizing our time, thoughts, and materials, and relational capacity. These are ideas that carry over into our lives as adults, and have a direct impact on success. AVID is a wonderful program to help develop these processes in a positive and encouraging environment. Fun is my name, but growth is my game. Let's go!

I'm a graduate of the University of Houston-Clear Lake with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies, certified in elementary early childhood-4th grade, and English Language Arts/Social Studies in grades 4-8. A teacher since 2007, I previously taught fourth grade at La Porte ISD where I was nominated Teacher of the Year, and had significant experience in third grade and beyond at Scanlan Oaks Elementary. My husband and I have two children, at Thornton and Scanlan Oaks respectively, and are longtime Sienna residents. I enjoy church, bible study, games, traveling, crafting, Texas history, stories of all kinds (screen, page, and stage) and especially time with family and friends! I'm so glad you're here!
