Bachelor of Arts in History Master of Science in Applied Psychology Social Studies Composite, 4-8 & 8-12
My name is Maria Rives, and I am excited to be teaching AP World History at Austin High School this year, especially since I am a graduate of AHS! I have been teaching high school since 2011, and I have previously taught US History and AP Psychology in Houston, as well as online Introductory, Developmental, and Child Psychology courses for freshmen and sophomores at Angelo State University. I graduated from the University of Houston in 2011 with a degree in History, and I earned a master's degree in Applied Psychology from Angelo State University. I love teaching Social Studies, because it's important to be an engaged, knowledgeable citizen, with a clear understanding of the world we live in. In my spare time, I like to foster kittens, decorate cookies, and spend time with my children, Sadie and Hayden.
