Ms. JaLana Owens
The 2020-21 school year marks my 4th year in education and my 2nd year teaching. I am originally from Houston, Texas, where I graduated from George Bush High School (Proud Alumnus).
After high school, I attended Lamar University where I ran track as a scholarship athlete. While at Lamar, I had the honor of running the 400 meter leg of the Southland Conference winning distance medley relay! After four life-changing years, I earned my Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and Fitness Management and am now a proud Cardinal alumni.
I enjoy teaching Principles of Health Science and having the opportunity to work with students. Outside of the classroom, I serve as a mentor to the female athletes at Bush as the assistant coach for the girls' track program. Athletics has afforded me so many opportunities to travel and learn not only those things that make me a better athlete but also a better person. It is my goal as an educator enlighten my students about the importance of honesty, fair play, and overall healthy living.
I look forward to assisting the students I encounter with increasing their general knowledge of the healthcare professions and hopefully spark a desire to further explore some of them.
