Susan Bakus
After 16 years in the classroom and 5 years as a Campus Assessment Coordinator, I moved into the role of assistant principal at Fort Settlement Middle School in 2018. Prior to being the assessment coordinator, I was in the English Language Arts department at FSMS where I taught both seventh and eighth grade ELA. I am an original staff member of FSMS and have served as team leader as well as ELA department chair. Prior to working at FSMS, I taught for four years in Bastrop, Texas--three years at Bastrop Middle School and one year at Cedar Creek Middle School.
I hold a Master of Education degree from the University of Houston and completed my Bachelor of Arts degree in English at Southwest Texas State University (Texas State University). My teaching certifications include principal EC-12, English 6-12, Reading 6-12, English Language Arts 6-12, History 6-12, and ESL 6-12.
I am actively involved in the Fort Bend County community. I have been a member of the Fort Bend Junior Service League for over twenty years and volunteer regularly for Lunches of Love.
In my spare time, I love spending time camping, kayaking, and traveling with my husband Matt, daughter Madelyn, and our dogs.
