7/8 Team Schedule Update - Aerial Drone Competition Dates

Please keep in mind that not every team will compete in every competition. We will have 3-4 drone teams and many of the competitions only allow two teams from any one organization. However, we will balance it so every team can go to at least some of the competitions in the area.

Competitions are typically an all-day event and competing teams would need to be available the entire day. So far, all dates below are on Saturdays.

Houston Area Aerial Drone Competition Dates - as of 9/7/24

• January 11, 2024
• February 22, 2024
• March 8, 2024 (this is the 1st Saturday of spring break)

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! 

We will be running a 6th grade team and a 7th-8th grade team. The 6th grade team will focus on the district robotics competition. The 7th-8th grade team will work on both the district robotics competition and another, currently undecided, competition.

There will be an information meeting for students to learn more about the team and the application process.

• The 6th Grade information meeting will be on Wednesday, September 4th from 4:20 to 4:45.
• The 7th & 8th Grade information meeting will be on Friday, September 6th from 4:20 to 4:45.

After the information meeting, the application process will open. This year, there will also be a coding evaluation as part of the application process. Students applying for the team will have to come to an additional meeting to write code live for a specific task that will be released at the coding evaluation meeting. The dates for this coding task will be:

• 6th Grade Coding Task - Wednesday, September 11 from 4:20 to 5:30. Students may leave when they've submitted their code.
• 7th & 8th Grade Coding Task - Thursday, September 12 from 4:20 to 5:30. Students may leave when they've submitted their code.

The application will close 11:59 pm, Saturday, September 14. Within about a week of the close of the application window, announcements will be sent out about your status of acceptance onto the team.

The first official team meetings will begin September 25.

The official meeting times for the robotics teams during the 2024-2025 school year will be:

6th Grade Team

• Wednesdays after school, 4:20 to 5:30

7th & 8th Grade Team

• Thursdays after school, 4:20 to 5:30
• Fridays after school, 4:20 to 5:30
