Hi! I’m Corrie Portier, an enthusiastic educator with a diverse background in both science and engineering education. Since the fall of 2006, I’ve had the privilege of shaping young minds and sparking a passion for learning across a variety of disciplines.

I’m a proud graduate of Texas A&M University, where I earned my degree in Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Science. After graduating, I pursued an alternative teaching certificate and became certified as an Early Childhood through 8th Grade Generalist to better support my students.

Currently, I teach Robotics and Engineering 1, as well as 7th Grade Science. Before this role, I spent 13 wonderful years at Cornerstone Elementary, specializing in Science and STEM Lab instruction. That experience helped me develop innovative, hands-on approaches to teaching that I continue to use in my classroom today.

My teaching philosophy centers on creating meaningful and relevant learning experiences. I strive to build a classroom environment where curiosity is nurtured, critical thinking is encouraged, and every student feels seen and valued.

Outside of school, I love spending time with my family, volunteering at my church, and diving into creative hobbies like reading, scrapbooking, crocheting, and photography. These passions not only bring me joy but also inspire my teaching in fun and unexpected ways.

I’m excited to continue my journey in education and remain dedicated to inspiring and empowering students as they explore the fascinating worlds of robotics, engineering, and science.
